How to Make Your Elevator Pitch Unique and Memorable
How many times have you heard someone say, “We’re a tech startup”?
That’s a pitch you’ll quickly forget. But what if your elevator pitch was so compelling, it stuck in their mind long after you walked away?
To stand out in a crowded room, you need a pitch that’s memorable and unique. Think about the startups that you remember.
What makes them different? It’s usually because they were able to communicate something unique and exciting about what they do.
Start by identifying your unique selling point (USP). What makes your startup different from others in the same space?
Is it the way you approach the problem, your breakthrough product, or your company's mission? This is the hook that makes your pitch memorable.
For example, if you’re working on a device that reduces industrial water waste, instead of saying, “We have a device that reduces water waste,” try something like:
“Hi, I’m Ashish, founder of AquaTech. We’ve developed a system that cuts industrial water waste by 70%, saving businesses millions in the process.”
This pitch is unique, specific, and immediately paints a picture of the value your startup brings.
You’re not just saying, “We reduce waste,” you’re explaining how and why it matters, which makes it memorable.
Action Points:
Identify your unique selling point and use it to craft your pitch.
Tell a story that highlights how your product or service solves a problem in a way no one else does.
Be authentic — authenticity is what makes your pitch stand out.
