Don’t Hire Just to Please the Board

THE LEAN LESSON
Two board members recommended a VP Sales.
He was polished, experienced, and wrong for our culture.
But I ignored my gut and hired him.
Within months, things exploded.
Misalignment, team friction, customer tension—it all traced back to that hire.
Lesson learned the hard way.
Takeaway:
You own the outcome. Only hire people you trust, not who others push.
